Strange Tales 聊斋

Our expertise was enlisted in the captivating immersive theatrical production of Strange Tales 聊斋, where we served as video designers and projection specialists. Our role was to craft mesmerising projections that created moments of wonder and strange magic.

A collaboration between the renowned immersive theatre company Grid Iron and the Traverse Theatre, the production demanded bold innovation. Using motion capture and 3D character design, we created a monstrous digital character for the thrilling finale of Magical Arts. By capturing real martial arts movements and projection mapping onto scrim material, we conjured the illusion of the creature materialising and vanishing on stage, enabling actor Pauline Lockhart to interact with it dynamically from multiple angles.
